Our first walk around the neighborhood.
This afternoon before the snow came, I was introduce to this big shiny blue thing. Like a river but removable. It made rustling noise and could get wrapped around my feet. I try to bite at it to see what it tasted like and when I lifted my head it came with me. Then I was directed to walk on it which seemed like no big deal so I obliged. http://youtu.be/DUG8zJoZ56E 2-legs are decidedly very strange. Seems like mine isn't satisfied being on the ground and wants to get on my back. I don't mind so much as long as we are standing there. I have let her belly flop on my back and put a leg over my rump, and even sit on me.
Today, I got to spend a little more time at the beauty salon, getting my tail banged and my brand tidied up and I got rid of some more winter hair, thanks to this great product called the SleekEZ. It feels good when I get groomed with it, and it's pulling all my extra hair out real easy. 2-legs says they are going to sponsor us to help me go to this big competition and find a new home (another one??) After the salon, we reviewed the new stuff from yesterday and I was very good at the mounting block. Didn't even get scared when 2-legs started jumping up and down next to me. (Well okay, I was a little scared but I stayed put - not like yesterday when I was running away clear over to the other side of the arena.)
I am not sure what she is doing up there, but she kept laying across my back and putting a leg over me. My head is buzzing!
So many new things to remember! We practiced with the saddle again, and going to the big pen, and something called longeing, which is where 2-legs stands in the middle and I am to walk or trot a circle around her. I even jumped over some barrels and that was fun. Oh, and I got my tails brushed and that was nice and I was careful to stand very still and not even think about kicking. I also went on a pedestal which was fine but the super scary thing was when 2-legs got on top of the panels and I try to run clear across to the other side of the pen but she made me come back and try again and I had to be very brave. It's still a little scary but I think it might be okay in a couple of days. Well, my brain is tired so I'm going to turn in and dream about all this new stuff. I am starting to get used to the daily commotion. Sure a bit different than the prison when they just threw hay at us.
Here I am learning so many new things I didn't know my head could hold so many at once. Thankfully 2-legs is very good at reviewing what we learned the day before in case I forgot. We did review with the saddle pad, the baby saddle, leading, getting rubbed in all the old places and then we added new stuff. A different saddle, getting a tight rope around my belly, then something called a girth, and then a bigger saddle. I wasn't too sure about that one and would have preferred to stay away from it, but in the end it wasn't so bad, even with the tight strap holding it on around my middle. Then we took a little field trip to a bigger pen, and I thought it would be great fun to run around even though 2-legs was trying to hold on to the other end of the red rope. But I let her come back and pet me after a while, since she said school wasn't over yet. http://youtu.be/qqXwxlYepEs New words today:
Give to pressure- that's a tough one! Whoa and Go - getting those sorted out. Close contact saddle and girth - those feel funny. Lower head - not my favorite. Good girl! - I like that one a lot. When the girls and I back in the big house heard about them crazy 2-legs putting bits of dead cow hide on our noble mustang backs, we didn't believe it.But low and behold, one of the gals found one of them fancy magazines with a photograph that explained things a bit. Now, I still can't fathom what it would be for, but I can see how that might look pretty on me, especially since my hair is all done up now.
So as not to startle me since I'm still not used to all this fancy stuff, 2-leg started me with a towel, then a saddle pad (all added to my words-of- the-day vocabulary.) |
